This research addresses SNAP recipients having challenges of buying food at local farmers markets. The Access to Healthy Foods program giving the added incentive of SNAP recipients obtaining double the amount of food for their benefit dollar. Lack of transportation, physical inability to get around at outdoor markets, conflict of market times with employment hours, and anxiety over public perception of SNAP use are explored as inhibitors in this study, similar to findings in previous studies of SNAP use at markets in other regions of the U.S. Qualitative methods will address the data of 200 AHF recipients in Boone County over four separate surveys performed in 2016, 2017, and 2018.
