Increasingly we are asked as applied scholars to work in interdisciplinary teams to solve complex real-world problems. Among the most significant challenges are securing funding for this type of engaged scholarship and mentoring students in conducting research in international settings. This panel is comprised of a number of representatives from academia, national research institutes, international non-profits, and graduate students who are all engaged in this type of research and have had success in addressing each of these issues. The panel will focus on fostering discussion related to navigating the very specific funding pool available to this particular research (and thinking outside the box) as well as best practices in mentoring students in the field.
