The criticism to the Walmart effect tends to be related to the socioeconomic problem. For instance, the decreasing of local entrepreneurship, small establishment, and employment in the host area (Walmart counties or town), the rise of family poverty, decreasing of product prices, increasing of health risk, crime rates, and even its impact to the social capital and social integration or personal identity. However, because of its power and size, Walmart not only dominated the U.S. retail market but also has significant influence in other countries economy. There are some studies related to the Walmart effect that focuses on the foreign market competition after Walmart entry and the consumer behavior as well in the global and international context. Due to this large and complex studies of the Walmart effect, we have conducted systematic review and meta-analysis to get the better views and knowledge related to the dynamic and multidimensional impact of Walmart by the general question: What is the empirical impact of Walmart entry/presence in the specific location/areas?
