A session centered on professional development for graduate students centering on the themes of job market, journal submission, and CV. The session will be seeking participation from Rural Sociological Society members who are recent graduates to talk about their experience on the academic and non-academic job market. Additionally, we will seek to have faculty members discuss the important factors to include in CV's for both academic and non-academic jobs. Because of the growing importance of journal submission in advancing career opportunities for graduate students we will also be including an a journal editor to talk about the journal submission process. However, the major objective of this session is to provide a space for graduate students to network and collectively discuss problems they face at their various institution, applying for graduate school, heading on the job market. This can provide an opportunity for graduate students in their first year to their last year to exchange ideas. Hopefully, from the exchange of ideas and the resulting discussion students can leave with advice on how to overcome their challenges.
