Oregon's rural food insecurity rate has risen in recent years, while urban food insecurity declines. Oregon's rural places also have higher food insecurity rates than the rest of rural America. This panel will (a) document the recent trends, (b) identify particular challenges facing rural Oregon, and (c) identify how communities, non-profit groups, and agencies are addressing this issue in Oregon. The speakers on this panel all have specific expertise in emergency food distribution, residents' strategies for coping with rural food insecurity, and community development and organizing related to rural food insecurity.
