Not all rural sociology students are interested in a research/teaching job at an institution of higher education. Furthermore, not all students interested in a research/teaching job will be able to find a position in the tight academic job market. In this roundtable, we will explore careers that could be of interest in a variety of fields and settings. In particular, we will explore relevant careers to rural sociology students, discuss strategies students can use to prepare for these careers throughout their graduate education, and consider things to keep in the back of the mind for potential future career moves. Our panel will include a USDA program officer, Extension professionals, and a non-profit sector researcher. Come prepared with questions!
