Stamp-forming is one of most popular methods in manufacturing of thermoplastic composite materials. This research aims at modeling of the stamp-forming process to predict the shape distortions and then optimize the mold design. Four major steps have been performed in this modeling work: the first step is to determine the deformation mechanisms during the forming process, the second step is to identify the numerical models that could take into account these deformation mechanisms, the third step is to determine the material parameters for these numerical models and the final step is to simulate this forming process using Aniform software with input data collected from the previous steps. Forming simulation of multi-layered laminate of PPS/CF composites had been well done. Intra-ply shear, bending behaviors and the contact logic between the individual plies and between tool-ply were modeled in these simulations. The predicted results in terms of thickness distribution and shear angle agreed well with the experimental results.
