It is increasingly recognized that Africa’s growth prospects are constrained by a lack of managerial ability. Though this is tied to multiple systemic factors, refinement of business education at the tertiary level is perhaps the most direct way of confronting this challenge. In particular, a case-based pedagogy is proven to be effective at developing the nuanced critical thinking skills that underpin managerial ability. However, a lack of relevant African cases is a serious hindrance to the widespread use of case education. To this end, we will be holding two professional development workshops focused on case writing. These workshops will follow a similar format to those we have conducted at our ten partner institutions in Africa. We aim for the pragmatic outcome of helping participants write more and better cases.
