This study explores the generalizability of work-family research from the Global North to the Global South, using South African research as a test case. We conducted a meta-analysis of South African research, comparing means for work-family conflict (WFC) and enrichment (WFE) to those same means in the Global North, tying our predictions to competing theoretical arguments. We also compared the magnitude of the relations between WFC and WFE and common individual outcomes, finding little difference. The exception to this was the smaller association between WFC and job/career satisfaction in the Global South. We situate our findings within the cross-culturally invariant perspective.
