Abstract
The purpose of this study was to assess the effect family financial management practices on the marital satisfaction of selected families in Addis Ababa. The study used explanatory design and quantitative research approach where data were collected using questionnaires. Data were gathered from married respondents who visited the AAU school of Commerce over two weeks period . The findings of the study indicated that family discussion of finance matters, the manner of handling of finances, communication between couples about finance matters of the family and trust between the couples were found to be predictors of marital satisfaction in couples. Family debt management practices and life style of couples couldn’t influence marital satisfaction of couples. This research has contributess to the finance literature by raising the issues of family financial management as one area of research and practice.
