The purpose of this paper is to explore live music consumption behaviour amongst young and old generational cohorts, from an inter-generational and cross-generational perspective. Further, this research seeks to provide exploratory insight into the connection between generational cohorts and musical preferences, associated with fans of the English rock band The Stranglers. The qualitative research approach was employed, in the form of ethnography, videography and narrative research methodology. Findings from the interviews reveal six tribal characteristics; community, brotherhood, place, rituals, cult aspects and special possessions. The research finds evidence of cross-generational behaviour, explained by the notion of tribes, consisting of fans of The Stranglers.
