An Overview of the NASA Space Environments Testing Management Office

As Director for the NASA Mission Support Directorate’s Space Environments Testing Management Office, Michael Mastaler provides Agency leadership and strategic management for a portfolio of testing capabilities and assets across the ten NASA centers to ensure the testing capabilities support current and future Agency and National needs. Mastaler was previously Associate Director for Capabilities in the NASA Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate’s Advanced Air Vehicles Program and Director for the NASA ARMD Aeronautics Test Program. He began his career in 1983 at NASA's Langley Research Center and has an extensive background in the support of research testing capabilities as an engineer, engineering manager, and resources manager. He has received numerous commendations for individual and group achievements including NASA's Exceptional Service Medal. Mastaler earned bachelor's and master's of science degrees in mechanical engineering from Old Dominion University and a master's of business management degree from the College of William and Mary.
