Althea Moorhead

NASA Marshall Space Flight Center

Althea Moorhead supports the NASA Meteoroid Environment Office (MEO) at Marshall Space Flight Center. She is the point of contact and lead developer for the Meteoroid Engineering Model (MEM) and produces the MEO's annual meteor shower forecast. She has a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Michigan.

Abstract

The meteoroid environment is often divided conceptually into meteor showers plus a sporadic background component. The sporadic complex poses the bulk of the risk to spacecraft, but showers can produce significant short-term... [ view full abstract ]
