Christoph Englert
US Naval Research Laboratory
Dr. Christoph R. Englert is the Head of the Geospace Science and Technology Branch of the NRL Space Science Division. He has been working on several space flight projects at the Naval Research Laboratory since 1999, including the SHIMMER instrument on the STPSat-1 satellite and the MIGHTI instrument on the NASA-ICON satellite, for which he serves as the Principal Investigator. His main interests are space based atmospheric sensors and upper atmospheric research. He received a graduate degree in Physics from the Technical University of Munich/Germany and a doctorate degree in Physics from the University of Bremen/Germany.
Abstract
The fundamental concept for the orbital debris detection sensor is to create a continuous light sheet by using a collimated light source, such as a low power laser, and a conic mirror. The key idea of this concept is to form a... [ view full abstract ]
