Case Study: Openstack in a mixed teaching and research environment

Andrew is a Systems Administrator and Software Designer for the School of Computer Science (SCS) at Carleton University. He primarily supports teaching and research in a variety of areas: OpenStack, system administration, software development, virtualization, lab exams, Active Directory, and web services.He currently serves as the Co-Director of the SHAD Carleton Program, a top Canadian leadership and entrepreneurship program for high achieving high school students. SCS "loans" him to this recruitment program during the month of July.Andrew is involved in a variety of extra-curricular activities. At Carleton he serves on the Senior Advisory Board for Virtual Ventures, a nationally renowned technology camp; an Eco Rep for the Carleton Sustainability Office; a volunteer for the Carleton Community Campaign; and as a union Trustee for CUPE 2424.Outside of Carleton, Andrew is key volunteer for the Hunt Club Park Community Association; a Scouts Canada Beaver Scout (Colony) Leader; a coach/trainer for his childrens' youth hockey, soccer and softball; and a member of the Cycling Advisory Committee for the Gloucester-Southgate Ward.However, most of Andrew's life revolves around activities with his young family.
