DidUknow Technology Training Initiative - Robert Brennan, University of Alberta

The vision of the DidUknow technology training initiative is to increase training effectiveness by making it more approachable through continuous experiential learning. The DidUknow program was created to address systemic inefficiency and the exhaustion associated with current models while decreasing time-to-utilization and increasing knowledge retention. DidUKnow is built on a platform where IT is directly engaging with the community on a regular basis, developing a strong rapport by meeting the needs of the community.

Service Design and Delivery - Kyla Hoffman, University of Saskatchewan

The vision for USask’s shared service delivery initiative is to improve administrative services and reduce the amount of time spent in academic units on transactional activities. An integrated suite of tools was created and assembled, including knowledge management built on Hannon Hill’s Cascade CMS, case management leveraging BMC Footprints, Apache Solr for web search, and accessibility through the university PAWS portal based on Ellucian Luminis. Each utilizes the university’s style guide, making them appear to fit seamlessly into the user experience.

Learning Labs - Rob Peregoodoff, University of British Columbia

The vision UBC's Sauder School of Business Learning Labs was to transform a traditional business school classroom and a 90-minute lecture format into a more fluid, active, and engaged learning experience. The focus of the space and activities was redirected from the traditional instructor-led, lecture-based format to a more collaborative model, based on group work across different sized groups and groups located in various locations.
