Mark Roman joined Simon Fraser University as chief information officer (CIO), IT Services in 2015. He is on the boards of the Canadian University Council of Chief Information Officers (CUCCIO) and BCNET. He holds a B.Math (computer science) from the University of Waterloo, an MBA (finance) from Queen’s University, and is a project management professional (PMP).
Dugan O'neil
SFU
As the Associate Vice-President, Research, Dugan O’Neil works closely with the Vice-President, Research and shares responsibility for academic leadership in, and administration of, research and other scholarly activities. Together, they work to raise SFU’s research profile to an internationally competitive level.Activities include the encouragement, facilitation and administration of research across faculties and other offices at SFU.He is cited for integrating sophisticated digital infrastructure into a diverse scientific community that spans engineering, natural sciences, health, social sciences and humanities.
Damian Doyle
University of Maryland Baltimore County
Damian Doyle is the Senior Director of Enterprise Infrastructure and Support in UMBC's Division of Information Technology. He is responsible for UMBC's cyber infrastructure and central IT support services, including enterprise systems, cloud architecture, classroom technology and client services. Before overseeing UMBC's enterprise infrastructure Damian oversaw the IT security and networking functions within UMBC's Division of Information Technology. Damian serves on the board of UMBC's Center for Women in Technology (CWIT) and actively works with them to help raise awareness, recently launching a partnership between central IT and CWIT to provide internship opportunities for freshmen scholars within the program. For the past few years he has been an active member of the Internet 2 Cloud Computing Constituency Group and served on several working groups within Internet2. Damian holds a B.S. from UMBC in Computer Science and a M.S. from UMBC in Information Systems.
Jason Hlady
University of Saskatchewan
Jason Hlady, an HPC Analyst and Coordinator in ICT has recently won the Compute Canada Award of Excellence for his contributions to several national initiatives — but most of all for his work on the Globus Portal.Jason has worked in the areas of research and advanced computing for more than a decade at the University of Saskatchewan and his work has catapulted the U of S into the national spotlight when it comes to research computing.
Jennifer Burns
University of British Columbia
Jennifer leads the information technology function at the University of British Columbia and ensures the alignment between university strategy, IT delivery systems and the needs of faculties, research, and administrative units across the institution. In addition to system wide strategic oversight, she is responsible for the enterprise UBC Information Technology department's efforts to maintain an advanced IT platform for education, research, and services. While undergoing an extensive period of infrastructure and system renewal, the current focus is on governance, capital prioritization, institutional change, and ensuring UBC's enterprise systems and services work together to deliver a cohesive end user experience.
