Mark Roman

Mark Roman joined Simon Fraser University as chief information officer (CIO), IT Services in 2015. He is on the boards of the Canadian University Council of Chief Information Officers (CUCCIO) and BCNET. He holds a B.Math (computer science) from the University of Waterloo, an MBA (finance) from Queen’s University, and is a project management professional (PMP).

John O'Brien

EDUCAUSE

John O’Brien is President and CEO of EDUCAUSE, an international non-profit association whose mission is to advance higher education through the use of information technology. Throughout his career in higher education, John has served as a leader in technology, academics, and institutional leadership. He was a faculty leader in instructional technology, a statewide IT project leader, and associate vice chancellor/deputy CIO at the system level. He has been a college provost and president in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, the fourth largest higher education system in the United States. Prior to his appointment at EDUCAUSE, he served as senior vice chancellor of academic and student affairs at Minnesota State. John holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Augustana University, a master's degree in Anglo-Irish Literature from the University of Dublin (Trinity College), and a doctorate in English from the University of Minnesota.

Michael Barr

Mount Royal University

Chief Information Officer CIO distinguished by strategic application of emerging technologies, consulting and startup venture experience, strong financial background, and operational leadership – taking organizations to next-level effectiveness and driving innovation. Builds clear business cases for new solutions, sets IT governance standards, and develops stakeholder consensus. Leads a team that contributes to the success of over 12,000 credit students, 4,000 continuing education students and 1,300 professors, instructors and staff. Has taken on increasing responsibility and accountability in executive management, strategic planning, governance, solutions implementation and business development. 

Wandschneider Bo

University of Toronto

Bo Wandschneider has spent 30 years in Higher Education.  Bo started as CIO at the University of Toronto in May 2017.  Prior to that he spent 5+ years as the Associate Vice Principal of Information Technology and CIO at Queen's University and 24 years at the University of Guelph in various roles from It Coordinator to Deputy CIO. He participates in a number of provincial and national  Higher Ed and IT organizations including OUCCIO, the ORION CIO Advisory Group, CUCCIO Board, Research Data Canada, The NRC - Research Information and Technology Advisory Committee, and the Portage Advisory Committee.
