Gierri Waltrich was born in Joacaba, Brazil, in 1979. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Florianopolis, Brazil, in 2007 and 2009, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from Eindhoven University of Technology, Eindhoven, The Netherlands, in 2013, all in electrical engineering. He is currently an Assistant Professor with the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Joinville, Brazil. His research interests include multilevel inverters, multiport converters, and electric vehicles.
