Electrical Engineer graduated from the School of Engineering of São Carlos / USP in 1973. He completed the master's degree in Electronic Engineering from the Technological Institute of Aeronautics in 1978 having developed a system dedicated to data acquisition and a Phd in electrical engineering at University College London / University of London in 1983 with a fault-tolerant work in computer systems. Held post-doctoral stage at the University of California at San Diego in 1993 also in the fault-tolerant area. In 1999 he transferred to the Department of Electrical Engineering of São Carlos School of Engineering also from USP where he worked until August 2010 as an associate professor. He is currently associate professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Federal University of Rio Grande Norte (UFRN).
