Sérgio Oliveira was born in Lages, SC, Brazil, in 1974. Received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the Regional University of Blumenau (FURB) in 1999 and received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Florianópolis, Brazil, in 2001 and 2006, respectively. Currently is a professor at Santa Catarina State University (UDESC) and at FURB. His current research focus is in Power Electronics, with the following topics: AC-AC and DC-DC power converters, electric drivers, distributed generation systems, quality and efficiency of electronic systems, switching converters applied to hybrid electric cars and embedded systems. He is member of the Brazilian Power Electronics Society (SOBRAEP), Brazilian Society of Automatics (SBA), Power Electronics Society (PELS), Industrial Electronics Society (IES), Industry Applications Society (IAS) and Vehicular Technology Society (VTS).
