Dr. José Renes Pinheiro has been a Professor at the Federal University of Santa Maria. He is leadership of Power Electronics and Control Research Group - GEPOC. He was the Technical Program Chairman (1999) and General Chair (2013) of the Brazilian Power Electronics Conference - COBEP and chair of the 1st Power Electronics and Control Seminar - SEPOC. From 2001 to 2002 he was with the Center for Power Electronics Systems - CPES, Virginia Tech, USA, as a Visitor Scholar. He has authored more than 300 technical papers published in proceedings of conferences and journals. His current research interests include Static Converter Design, high-frequency and high-Power Conversion, Multilevel converters, Distributed Power Systems and Renewable Energy, and Modeling and Control of Converters. Dr. Pinheiro is a member of the Brazilian Power Electronics Society - SOBRAEP, and IEEE- PELS/IES/PES/AESS Societies.
