The COINAtlantic Secretariat invites CZC 2018 delegates to participate in an interactive session that will describe progress in establishing a Canadian Integrated Ocean Observing System (CIOOS) and invite delegates’ comments on the advantages and concerns they have about the CIOOS initiative. CIOOS built through a public, private and academic partnership will bring together and leverage existing Canadian and International ocean observation data/programs/projects. It will generate value-added data products on an open web-based platform that maximizes utility to end-users, and provide timely access to a broad range of environmental information.
The session will include an introduction to the CIOOS development process so far and a facilitated discussion.
15:20-16:30 - Presentations on the development of CIOOS so far.
Presenters will be by some members of the Ocean Data Management Community of Practise involved in the CIOOS discussions.
• Andrew Sherin, Director, COINAtlantic Secretariat
• Richard Kelly, Project Engineer, Centre for Applied Ocean Technology, Marine Institute
• Andréane Bastien, Executive Director, St. Lawrence Global Observatory
