This project aims to ascertain which types of scholarship positively influence retention and success of students from equity groups and inform the design of equity scholarship programs. This will be achieved by collating three university case studies to analyse and compare cohorts of equity students who received a scholarship in 2013 using demographic, administrative and educational outcome measures and compared against the total student cohorts and equity cohorts in each institution. The study will triangulate these findings with data from a survey of scholarship recipients to more fully assess the influence of scholarships on student retention and success.
