Conflict is a dirty word. Conflict is a gift. Can these 2 perceptions live together harmoniously?
Conflict presents an opportunity to transform organisations and individuals. The opportunity is to embrace differences whilst respecting the complexity of relationships.
The common approach to conflict management is conflict eradication and risk minimisation. This approach has inherent risks and conflicts.
It usually keeps emotion away from the table. Emotions are regarded as obstacles to a successful outcome of matter at hand .
Is there a better way?
What if the emotions were welcomed into the room and seen as pivotal to a successful outcome?
A new group (EduResolutions) has formed to offer another way of addressing conflict within a collaborative framework.
The presentation will include a discussion on this approach and guidelines to inform practice.
Contemporary mediation practices and the nexus between individuals and organisational frameworks of understanding conflict and leadership will be explored.
Participants will be encouraged to examine their current approaches to conflict and what it “takes” to stay in the conflict arena.
