In this paper, we offer a systematic review of research regarding the relationship between national cultures and intra-organisational trust. Our aim is to provide insight into the ways in which the link between such cultures and trust and distrust is conceptualised and to offer aspects warranting further research. Our systematic review reveals 49 relevant publications, the majority (94%) of which were published this millennium, indicating increasing interest in national culture’s association with trust. Although our review offers some insights into the trust and national culture relationship, providing evidence of national culture’s impact on trust, the research is relatively limited. We conclude our paper by presenting some potential avenues for future research and strongly recommend further research to extend our knowledge on national culture and trust relationship.
