The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan introduced CIM (Construction Information Modeling/Management) in 2012 fiscal year. CIM is a method used to apply the technique and approach of BIM (Building Information Modeling) implemented in the building industry to the civil engineering field.This document discusses the current state of dams in Japan before the introduction of the Dam CIM, prepared as a case study of CIM application in the dam construction. In addition, this document also organizes information related to the DAM CIM, in accordance with the General Dam Inspection and Maintenance Procedure, to highlight the potential usage in dam operation and maintenance. Based on the organization of the above information, this document suggests potential future applications.
