This research is about Construction planning and production control method using BIM. Previous studies of Construction planning and production control method using BIM are 4D process simulation or cost evaluation of construction method using quantity data of BIM. These efforts are mainly visualization and decision making of construction project. This research propose new method of Construction planning and production control using “Automatic 3Dmodel generation technic”,” structural calculation method of Temporary elements connected with BIM ” ,”Automatic generation of report” and “Cloud type production control method”. This research consists of two major parts.
First part is about Construction planning of concrete Formwork. We developed Automatic 3Dmodel generation of concrete forms and props to support the forms of beam and slab using visual programing method Dynamo. Automatic 3Dmodel generation has enabled to get quantity take off data of concrete forms and props without difficulty. We developed program to calculate number of props required using BIM. Furthermore, we developed system to create filling documents about structural calculation of Temporary elements to submit a government office.
Second part is about Cloud type construction production control. We developed cloud type construction production control system using automatic generated BIM model of concrete formwork. Cloud type construction production control system can link construction progress data to tablet type device and desktop PC. We developed user interface to input progress data to BIM data. Progress data is defined as follows “before construction(0%)” ,”Under Construction(60%)”, ”Under Strip forms(80%)”,”After Strip Forms(100%)” .To input progress data to cloud type BIM system enable to check real time construction progress from everywhere. Moreover, we can measure real time productivity metrics, which is called Percent plan complete (PPC), of trade formwork contractor.
Due to the above two system developments, we propose new method for planning and production control of Formwork Using BIM.
It is showed that BIM usages in construction phase achieve not only visualization & collaboration, but also improvement of the productivity by the automation of planning and production control Using BIM.
