Land use involves the management and modification of natural environment or wilderness into built environment such as settlements and semi-natural habitats. UAE is one of the countries that exploited land and established a lot of metropolitan buildings, one of these magnificent buildings which sparked and attract many people are Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque the structure that unites the cultural diversity of Islamic world, historical values, modern architecture and art.
Objective of this study was to find out about urban growth of area and classified land use using secondary data and manipulation of GIS software (ENVI) to found out developments of Mosque in 1994, 2004 and 2014. The visual interpretation of various satellite images used to collect required data.
The study implemented a case study research design. Data for this study were collected from a wide variety of sources to present a description of phenomenon or experience from the perspectives of respondents. Instruments used included an interview and field observation guide. The questionnaire contained both close ended and open ended questions in order to solicit information. Visual interpretation of various satellite images were also used to collect required data.
Result shows Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque area before building the mosque, was totally deserted at the beginning in the year 1994. In 1996 when the mosque started to construct and satellite image of the year 2004 shows slow development under process. In year 2014 satellite image shows the huge developmental after the construction of Sheik Zayed grand mosque.
United Arab Emirate’s achievements and development was not just in land use land cover change, but the whole world noticed its dramatic change from a rural country which its industry was based upon hunting, fishing, diving and agriculture crops in a very urbanized and internationally known country that have a variety of industry field
