This informal drop-in session is your chance to contribute to two new, cross-government, UK-wide leadership programmes: the Civil Service Leadership Academy and the Centre for Public Service Leadership. It offers a unique opportunity to influence a major government programme at its inception.
As we develop both initiatives, we are seeking the best available academic evidence, including cutting-edge theoretical and conceptual developments, international best practice examples (current and historical), plus the empirical evidence base of ‘what works’. We invite timely contributions of relevant insights from a range of fields, including public leadership, public innovation, public sector reform, organisational change and performance, institutional design, strategy, public value, productivity, governing complex problems, teaching and learning in public administration, knowledge mobilisation and evidence use in government.
At this session you can:
(a) register your interest for two engagement opportunities commencing May 2018:
1. Advisory
We are currently creating a network of expert advisors with whom we will consult, formally and informally, throughout 2018. There will be a range of opportunities available, for example attend a CPSL consultation roundtable in May or June; input evidence to the new leadership strategy in July; join our expert advisory board in August.
2. Executive Education
We are currently compiling a database of providers of taught masterclasses for senior leaders in central government and public bodies. These will be short two- or three-hour interactive workshops that build capability in core practices for leaders. We are open to a range of topics from a range of providers. Example topics could include: leading complex networks; the application of design thinking in public policy; systems leadership after public sector reform; approaches to public leadership, etc.
(b) share your thoughts on relevant public leadership theory and practice
(c) ask questions about these initiatives and the opportunities to participate
