Field: Pedogeochemistry and Environmental Geochemistry. To study temporal and spatial variability, migration and transformation, and accumulation and depletion of elements in soils, waters and plants and to determine their affecting factors by means of modern pedogeochemical approaches in combination with advanced information, remote sensing, and analytical technology under natural and anthropogenic conditions. To explore the relationship between the elemental geochemistry and soil genesis, agriculture, human health, and risk assessment of ecological environments based on the researches above. Two aspects are being concentrated lately: 1) Temporal and spatial variability of toxic elements in soils, soil survey methodology, identification of element natural background and anthropogenic accumulation, determination of pollutant sources, transfer and transformation of pollutants in soils and their ecological effects, and risk assessment of pollutants in environments under intensive anthropogenic conditions. 2) The relationships between variability of elements in soils and their environments and human health and even human longevity.

Abstract

Lately, the greenhouse vegetable production (GVP) is being developed rapidly. However, high crop indexes, a large amount of agricultural inputs, and very closed evironment easily result in the accumulation of some pollutants... [ view full abstract ]
