Joyce Molenaar has a background in Health Sciences andGlobal Health (research). She developed a strong interest in the multidisciplinaryfield of maternity care. She was involved in research-projects concerning interprofessionalcollaboration between maternity care professionals, the organization of birthcare networks, client perspectives and participation. Together with hercolleagues at the Research Centre for Midwifery Science Maastricht (Zuyd University,the Netherlands) she is now doing research in the field of Shared DecisionMaking (SDM). The aim of the study is to develop an intervention to support SDMthroughout pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum care. The intervention isdeveloped in co-creation with professionals and parents accessing maternitycare provision.
