Shared-decision making about place of birth

Yvonne graduated as a midwife in 2001 at the former University of Paisley, Scotland. After her graduation Yvonne carried forward midwifery care from midwifery active General Practitioners in the Netherlands. She practised until 2008, first as a solo-practitioner and later in a duo practice. She supported predominantly home births as 77% of her clientele birthed at home. She obtained the MSc degree Midwifery at Glasgow Caledonian University on the subject of client satisfaction and birth outcomes in different sized midwifery practices and graduated at the same university in Healthcare Education on the subject internationalization of midwifery education in the European Union. At Glasgow Caledonian University she was involved (organization and teaching) in international BSc and MSc on-distance midwifery learning programmes and in the European Masters programme of Midwifery. In March 2016, she graduated as a Doctor in Philosophy at the University of Maastricht, Netherlands after finishing her research project on the development of an intervention to prevent and reduce maternal distress during pregnancy. During the period as a PhD student she had teaching responsibilities (BSc) and she worked as a clinical midwife and occasionally in midwife-led care community-based practices. Currently Yvonne works as a senior lecturer in midwifery education at the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, and as a researcher at the Research Centre Innovations in Care with a research focus on midwifery (woman-centered care, transition to motherhood).
