Ala Qawasmi finished his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering at Birzeit University in Palestine and achieved a Master of Science degree in Mechatronics at Hamburg University of Technology in Germany. Since 2013 he is researching the topic circuit breakers for Medium Voltage Direct Current (MVDC) distribution systems at the RWTH Aachen University in Germany.
