In this paper I discuss the environmental and economic costs and benefits of solar panels at The University of the South. I use Massachusetts Institute of Technology to offer a comparative analysis of a school that chose to invest in an offsite solar option. I then run a cost- benefit analysis that explains the return on investment of the solar panels the University of the South has chosen to invest in. I then run a regression indicating why certain states might be more inclined to invest in more renewable energy options. I conclude by offering case based solutions for more sustainable options for Universities to choose if they decide to commit to a more environmentally and economically energy option.
