Middlebury is not called the “College on the Hill” for no reason. Its bucolic campus nestled amidst the mountains makes it idyllically picturesque and the amenities and education offered to its students are among the best in the country. However, like most college campuses and college towns, its presence has also greatly impacted the community. While the College has definitely helped the town of Middlebury economically, recreationally, and infrastructurally, it has also widened inequality and created a physical and palpable tension between the two. This transit hub aims to put into conversation the College’s relationship and impact on the town and highlight the people that are forgotten but most greatly impacted by it.
