Climate change is an issue and human behavior is contributing to this problem. This presentation will look at a study I am currently conducting in the psychology department. Prior research has suggested that metaphor can be a successful tool for enhancing relatedness, competence, and autonomy, key factors for influencing behavior. In this study I am looking at humor mechanisms within metaphor. What types of visual humor using metaphor are most influential in changing behavior? This project will evaluate how humor and metaphor relate to systems thinking, incongruity resolution, script opposition, need for cognition, and environmental beliefs.
