This short film was produced by 6 Middlebury Film students as a submission to the Sleepless in Burlington 40-hour film slam last November: it was planned, written, shot, and edited in 40 hours to incorporate certain rules and restrictions given out at the start of the competition. The film is a thriller about the true crime author Dr. Jason Kent, who is lured into a macabre conversation with one of his fans during an interview about his newest release. Next Caller went on to win “Best Actress”, “Best Actor”, and an impromptu “Best Writing” award from Writer/Director Colin Trevorrow at the Sleepless in Burlington competition.
