This presentation will examine whether or not the steady increase of charter schools across the United States has affected juvenile crime rates in the counties in which they were opened. Using a difference-in-difference research design, this study will compare juvenile crime rates across cities in five different states with existing charter school legislation--California, Michigan, Illinois, New York, and Pennsylvania.
