We will present the web sign-up application that we built and implemented for the Language Tables program at Middlebury College. The program previously lacked a way to accurately track attendance, which in turn led to several problems such as inaccurate table allocation and excessive food waste. In addition to providing a centralized sign-up system, our application aims to reduce the burden on the teaching assistants to check attendance and to reduce the line wait times.
Our presentation will provide a broad overview of the process of web development in non-technical terms, using our application as an example. We will discuss how we had to incorporate and balance the desires of language department heads, language tables staff and the language students. We will end the presentation with an evaluation of our implementation and then will open for Q&A.
