Purpose:
To examine what aspects impact performance anxiety amongst musicians and athletes. I will present a variety of techniques to overcome such anxieties, which focus on learning through one’s own experiences.
Performance anxiety is a phenomenon that many individuals face, including athletes and musicians. There are many causes of this anxiety. However, there is one common thread: a psychological game is being played amongst all individuals affected. This game involves overcoming internal obstacles such as self-doubt and fear. My presentation will examine this inner “mind” game. There will also be an exploration of practical techniques musicians and athletes can use to overcome it, therefore allowing for their full potential as a performer to be reached and expressed.
