Within the post-secondary education sector the lives of IT organizations are often ruled by the "more services for less money" mantra. This often leads to pursuing the cheapest capital cost equipment believing it to be the best value to the organization.
This presentation looks at the University of Alberta and the Campus Area Network, Edge Network, and Data Center network environments. Looks at where the costs really emerge and how this exercise is leading to architectural evolution in the infrastructure.
