This presentation outlines the development of a series of online units to support international students’ transition into higher education in Ireland. This National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (NFTL) funded project brought together a multidisciplinary team from five HEIs to build online support that addresses the academic, social and practical issues that face both students and staff. The content of the online student units was informed on the basis on a large scale survey (n=573) drawn from existing international students across the five institutions. Using the experiences and thoughts of international students who have already studied in Ireland, the liveandlearninireland.ie project seeks to provide an online environment where both students and staff can address some of the issues around transitioning into higher education in Ireland and, therefore, make the experience a little more relaxed and enjoyable for international students.
