Dr. Greta Varchi, received her Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences from the University of Bologna (Italy) in 2001. Her current scientific activity spans form the synthesis of biologically active molecules to the production of advanced (nano)biomaterials for drug delivery and tissue engineering purposes. She is author of more 70 scientific contributions in peer-reviewed journals and 4 patents. She is principal investigator and scientific coordinator of several research projects funded by Italian research agencies and private companies. She is coordinator of the Chemistry and Nanotechnology Research Unit of the ISOF Institute and she is co-founder of the spinoff company Kerline.

Abstract

Introduction Doxorubicin (DOX) is one of the most effective cytotoxic drug used for the treatment of a wide range of tumors. However, the use of DOX is limited by serious drawbacks, which might be partially overcome by means... [ view full abstract ]
