Clara Viñas graduated in Chemistry and in Pharmacy. PhD in Pharmacy under the supervision of Prof. F. Teixidor in 1990. Pre-doctoral stay at the Prof. Rudolph’s laboratory at The University of Michigan for a year. Back to Barcelona, worked for industry and later moved to Sabadell City Hall Labs where she became the director to work on food and environmental control.  She joined the C.S.I.C. as tenured scientist in 1991; promoted to research scientist in 2002 and to research professor in 2006. Her research interests are: synthesis of novel boron compounds to be used for future medicinal applications (h= 45)

Abstract

The twelve-vertex closo C2B10H12 icosahedral carboranes have been the most widely studied polyhedral Boron clusters. Icosahedral carboranes act as strong electron-withdrawing ligands through substitution on carbon2 and as... [ view full abstract ]
