Colloidal Au-Ag-Chalcogen-Based Ternary Nanocrystals for Energy Conversion Applications

Albert Figuerola

University of Barcelona

I defended my PhD in Inorganic Chemistry in 2005 at the University of Barcelona and later I performed a ca. 5 year postdoctoral stage in the group of Prof. Liberato Manna in the Italian Institute of Technology in Genoa, Italy. I am currently an Associate Professor in the University of Barcelona. My research lines deal with the synthesis of novel inorganic nanoparticles, with special emphasis on the prepartion of hybrid nanocrystals with interesting optical, magnetic and/or plasmonic properties, targeting functional systems with potential applications in the energy conversion field.

Abstract

The optimization of a material functionality requires both the rational design and precise engineering of its structural and chemical parameters. In this work, we show how colloidal chemistry is an excellent synthetic choice... [ view full abstract ]
