Effect of Pressure on Crystal Structure and Optical Properties of Bi2O3 Nanoparticles
Melanie White
University of Nevada Las Vegas
Ms. White is a first year graduate student with the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Ms. White and her advisor Dr. Ravhi Kumar are members of the High Pressure Science and Engineering Center – a DOE/NNSA Center of Excellence.Ms. White’s research focuses on high pressure studies of a wide variety of materials in the diamond anvil cell paired with structural and electronic studies using Raman spectroscopy and X-ray spectroscopy and diffraction. Additionally, Ms. White’s research includes synthesis and characterization of strongly-correlated materials using conventional solid-state and arc melting techniques.
Abstract
Nano materials have gained importance recently in several medical and technological applications due to their unique size-dependent properties that make these materials superior and indispensable. Bi2O3 nanoparticles are used... [ view full abstract ]
