The project supports young autistic adults (Asperger) in their search for a suitable job or training. The project is free of charge for the participants. It offers 20 hours a week training over a period of maximum 24 month. Participants attend individual and group coaching sessions and gain work experience in suitable companies.
Content of the teaching sessions:
social competence training (communication, small talk, handling stress, psychoeducation…)
everyday life skills,
behavioural training,
vocational preparation,
individual and group project work.
Twice a year 6 weeks of practical work experience is organised – with the aim of matching participants’ skills with company requirements.
There is a maximum of 6 participants at any given time. The team of professionals consists of 4 people. Teaching is done in teams of two. The team also supports people with autism at their workplace and works alongside companies who need support with autistic employees.
A key feature is the active inclusion of parents, teachers, employers, thus creating a network of support. This includes parent evenings, contact with job centres and networking with other social projects. Every 6 weeks we offer recreation for present and past participants. We support assisted living for people with autism.
The poster will provide information about the participants plus outcome data, such as: success rate in job placement (86,6%), average time spent with the project and average time of support on the job, customer satisfaction, percentage of termination after successful job placement (at the moment 0%) and participants’ experiences and feedback.
