Abstract
Expressive Arts Presentation
Designed for Service Providers, Special Education Teachers, Students, Educators, Parents, Administrators, Paraprofessionals, Art & Music Teachers, Dancers, Psychologists and EVERYONE interested in exploring movement and music as a vehicle for growth & healthy expression for individuals on the autism spectrum. This presentation provides strategies for easy to do, low cost music and movement skills that can be used in the home, school and office setting.
This Expressive Arts session includes exploring music and movement as the brain processes audio, visual, and gross motor planning in the 4 lobes in order to encourage a "whole brain" thinking approach. We will show a short power point about music and the valuable effects it has on the brain and how individuals with autism process the variables in their environment.
We will guide the participants through a group sensory exercise where participants will experience sensory overload much as our kiddos do on the autism spectrum daily.
