Leslie Eckel is Associate Professor of English at Suffolk University in Boston, author of Atlantic Citizens: Nineteenth-Century American Writers at Work in the World (Edinburgh UP, 2013), and co-editor of The Edinburgh Companion to Atlantic Literary Studies (Edinburgh UP, 2016). Her current book project, Dwelling in Possibility: Atlantic Utopias and Countercultures, explores the ways language patterns connect utopian texts and experiments across boundaries of genre, nation, and race in the long nineteenth century. Her forthcoming publications include essays in Approaches to Teaching the Works of Ralph Waldo Emerson (MLA, 2018) and Walt Whitman in Context (Cambridge UP, 2018).
